What is a Virtual Tour?

Panoramic photography and the creation of virtual tours by virtual tour companies for on-line use is quickly becoming the new and innovative cost effective way to market properties on-line, but many estate agents are still a little in the dark when it comes to the application of the technology, how the technology is used and what that technology actually is. The aim of this guide is to shed some light on how we create our virtual tours in the hope that the general awareness of virtual tours will be raised.

n.
1 An unbroken view of an entire surrounding area.

2 A picture or series of pictures representing a continuous scene.

Panoramic images have existed for a long time, in the early days panoramas were created using nothing more than a 35mm camera and good judgement!

Photographs were taken from a single point with a certain amount of overlap for each photo, when developed, typically the photographs were lay on a piece of card and arranged by overlapping each photograph in the hope of creating one large seamless panorama.
